Our Scholarships
OHEF’s main goal and function over the years has been to give scholarships to Oak Harbor students. We have given close to $1,000,000 in scholarships since our founding in 1992, and over $500,000 since 2013.
Oak Harbor Educational Foundation - Dave Johnson Scholarship
$2,000 total for up to 3 scholarships
Al Koetje Mayor’s Scholarship
One $2,500 scholarship awarded to a student who has shown outstanding leadership
A. Loren & Patricia Kraetz Scholarship
One or more $2,000 scholarship awarded to a student going into the field of education
Oak Harbor Musical Youth Booster Scholarship
One or more $1,000 scholarship for choral music students
Jim Konopik & Jo Balda Island Thrift Scholarships
Two $1,000 scholarships for students showing outstanding community service
Coach Eric Lindberg Scholarship
One $1,500 scholarship to a student athlete who believes in and displays the qualities that Coach Eric Lindberg worked to encourage and build in his student athletes including: exceptional work ethic, leadership, the highest character and a “we before me” attitude.
Captain Frank Emory Memorial Scholarship
One $25,000 scholarship for a student going into science, technology, engineering or mathematics.
NW Bookkeeping Scholarship
One $1000 scholarship, must be pursuing a degree or certificate in business administration, or in the field of accounting/bookkeeping.
Gregory A. Saar Scholarship
$10,000 divided between one or more scholarships to student(s) for college, university, or trade entrepreneurial, medical, scientific, educational, or professional education including, without limitation, degrees in business, medicine, nursing, education, mathematics, accounting, economics, marketing, law, art, music theater, literature, linguistics, computer science and engineering.
Naas Family 2nd Chance Scholarship
$1,500-$2,500 for 1-3 recipients, $$ amount and # of scholarships vary year to year.

$3,500 total split between 2-6 winners
Nida Paggao and Susan & Barry Sehlin Island Thrift Scholarships
Two $1,000 scholarships for students who have demonstrated, or will be pursuing as a career or course of study, civic, political, and/or social service
Mustang TJ Lamont Memorial Scholarship
$1000 for one scholarship to a student who is pursing a vocational technical degree through Skagit Valley College

Endowed Scholarship
$1000 for a CTE student who is involved in NJROTC at OHHS
Whidbey Island Roller Derby - Jake Smith Memorial Sports Medicine Scholarship
$500 for a OHHS graduating student going into Sports Medicine or related field
